Outage - North West/East Thursday 23rd July 2020 12:24:00 pm

We are aware of an outage in BT Wholesales network in the North East regions and have raised with them awaiting further information.

For the most part, this appears to now be concluded.

The fire in our Exchange in Newcastle Upon Tyne has been extinguished and the fire brigade have left site. Power is being restored and we are now seeing services recover. Due to the staged restoration of the power, to ensure surges do not cause further disruption, you will not see all services restore at the same time.

We do not expect any further interruptions of service at this time although if that changes, we will update this status.

Some services have been restored:

they have power restored to the main panel and assessing the damage to see what can be powered up in a controlled manner

We have been advised a fire has caused the issue which has directly impacted these regions.

It may also be affecting other wholesale networks for similar reasons.

Region updated to North West and East. May be larger than this but checks are ongoing.

Other providers are also reporting the same loss so appears to be a wider issue at BT Wholesale.
